She laid the seat back in the car, not feeling well. She was past the point of being hungry but couldnt eat. Her stomach felt like someone had punched her. She looked up at him in the drivers seat.
He smiled gently and put his hand on her knee. "are you okay?" he asked.
"yeah. I'm fine." she squealed, seeing as how she had been hoarse the past two days. "Just hungry."
A few minutes later they pulled into the dairy queen so he could get an ice cream and she could get some lunch. Then it was time for the ever so exciting drive home.
After a few minutes deciding what to put into the CD player, she decided on flyleaf and cranked up the volume.
Only after the CD had nearly played every song, they had arrived back in their home town and could feel safer once more.
"We wont be here long." He promised as they parked the car in his driveway. He needed to charge his phone after the long trip to south Texas and change. Chocolate ice cream now stained his pants.
She nodded, holding her stomach and waiting for the empty feeling to disappear. As he unlocked the house, she made a quick dash to the bathroom hoping to throw up. She didnt however, but she did feel a little better.
"So are we headed to the mall?" she asked putting her arms around his neck. He nodded and grabbed his cell phone.
"Lets go sweetie." he said, kissing her forehead.
Once at the mall, they began to talk about all the stores they wanted to go to.
"BUILD-A-BEAR!" She cried happily.
"One of my friends is actually getting me one of those cats..." he said laughing. He nudged her and asked "Why dont you get me one? huh huh?"
She rolled her eyes and said "I dont have the money. why dont you date her? huh huh huh?"
To which he replied, "I did.... I broke up with her for you...."
She stopped dead in her tracks. "WHAT??"
"What?" he asked as if it were nothing.
"You....for me...? what..?" She asked feeling slightly confused and shocked. She was at a loss for words. A million questions were running through her head. "Why me? whats so special about me? Not that I'm complaining or anything but what's so great about boring old me?" she thought to herself as they walked past store after store.
She began slowing and he was far ahead of her now. He turned and asked "Are you okay?" like he always did.
"Huh?" she blushed, realizing that she had spaced out in thought on the matter. "Yeah i'm fine." And she left it at that.
